OS3013 Optical Simulation with ASAP(I) Last Revised: 2018-04-11
Course Objectives 1. Teach the underlying ASAP philosophy.
2. Introduce the most common ASAP commands and features.
3. Practice using ASAP.
4. Introduce methods and procedures for solving the most common types of optical problems.
5. Provide an overview of ASAP capabilities.

Prerequisite

Textbook The introductory tutorial, Breault Research Organization, Tucson, Arizona.

Topical Outline 1. Basic concept of system, source, ray trace, and analysis.
2. User interface; Object and rays; Radiometry.
3. Introduction to command scripts; Source apodization.
4. Rhino and IGES; Tolerance analysis; CIE color analysis; Wave optics.
5. Polarization; Diffraction and gratings; Scattering; Other ASAP references and information sources.
