M.S. Degree Requirements
  1. Courses used toward the M.S. degree must have grades of 70 or above.
  2. Required courses for DOP's M.S. students* are
    • Optical Waves in Crystals,
    • Fourier Optics,
    • Geometrical Optics, and
    • Optics Laboratory .

    Those who have taken these four courses offered by the Department and scored 71 or above before enrolling in DOP's M.S. program are eligible to file a course waiver request form to the Department within one week after the first semester of every academic year begins. The approval of course waiver is subject to the decision by the Curriculum Committee of the Department.

  3. Students must pass undergraduate Optics, Electromagnetism, and Microelectronics before enrolling in DOP's M.S. program*. For those who scored 70 or above at junior college, or 61 or above at university are eligible to file a course waiver request form to the Department within one week before the first semester of every academic year begins. When filing the request form, students shall provide the syllabus (syllabi) as a supporting document. An oral examination may be required, if necessary.
  4. Students must pass DOP Seminar for four semesters before graduation; those who report early graduation must pass this course in each semester during their study in the M.S. program.

  6. The M.S. degree will be issued after the completion of the M.S. thesis defense and other graduation procedures.

Further requirements:
  1. Students must select an advisor from the full-time DOP faculty and are allowed to take Special Topic Research courses after their advisor selection.

* The seminar is the only required course reported to the Office of Academic Affairs by the Department of Optics and Photonics; however, the required courses in the M.S. program set by the Department include: Fourier Optics, Geometrical Optics, Optical Waves in Crystals, Optics Laboratory, and the following three undergraduate courses: Optics, Electromagnetism, and Microelectronics.
