Current Research Areas
The research activities can be classified into two categories. The first one including the development of broadband and wide-incident-angle subwavelength optics based on guided-mode resonance effect and metallic plasmonics. The subwavelength optical devices are applied to the light-extraction enhancement and light-pattern modulation in the LED solid state lighting, the light-trapping improvement in solar cells, and the planar lightwave circuits. The second one is to develop optical interconnect modules up and serve as a Co-PI in a four-year integrated project “Parallel Optical Interconnect Technologies” funded by the Department of Industrial Technology, Ministry of Economic Affairs. The optical interconnect module with a data rate up to 160 Gbps (16 channel × 10 Gbps) are developed combing technologies of optical design, MEMS, high-precision assembly, and high frequency measurement.
